How do I Connect to UNCW's Wireless Network?

Question

How do I connect to UNCW's wireless network?

Answer

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to connect to Hawk Wi-Fi.

ITS provides four broadcast wireless networks for faculty, staff, students and guests at UNCW:

  1. Hawkwifi can be used by UNCW faculty, staff and students to connect to the campus network and the Internet.

  2. Labnet can be used by UNCW faculty, staff and students who have wireless only devices (like Amazon Echos, Nintendo Switches) to connect to the Internet. This network does not have access to UNCW resources.

  3. Eduroam can be used by guests whose institutions are enrolled in Eduroam to connect to the campus network and the Internet.

  4. Seahawkguest can be used by guests for Internet access. This network has limited access to campus resources and is limited to web ports (http and https)

Connecting to Hawkwifi:

  1. View available networks on your device and select "Hawkwifi."

  2. Enter your UNCW username and password.

  3. Accept security certificate, if prompted to do so.

  4. Domain is "UNCW" if prompted to enter it.

Connecting to Labnet:

You must request access for your devices to be able to connect to labnet. You can request access here (link to https://uncw.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1875/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=11911). You will need to provide the following:

  1. Your full name

  2. Wireless mac address

  3. Contact phone number

  4. Type of device (ex. Nintendo 3DS, Echo Dot)

Once your device has been given permission to connect to labnet:

  1.  View available networks on your device and select “Labnet”

  2. Type in the password provided to you by ITS.

Your device should now be connected.

Connecting to Eduroam

  1. View available networks on your device and choose “Eduroam”

  2. Log into Eduroam the same way you would log into your institution’s network, using the same username and password.

If you have issues logging in, please contact your home institution for troubleshooting.

Connecting to SeahawkGuest

  1. View available networks on your device and select “SeahawkGuest”

  2. Your device should connect to this network automatically.

You will have limited access to UNCW resources and will only be able to web surf while connected on SeahawkGuest.
