How do I set up and access my UNCW voicemail?

Answer

All faculty and staff that have UNCW phone service (910-962-xxxx), and have the expanded or enhanced service tier, have the ability to set up and access their voicemail.

*Please note: You must know your password to complete these instructions. If you do not remember your password please put in a service request to have the password reset.

 

To Access Your Voicemail:

  1. Dial "29999" to access voicemail from a UNCW phone or 910-962-9999 from a personal phone.
     

  2. From your office phone - The system announces your name and prompts you for a password. Enter your password and then press #.

  3. From any other phone - Immediately press #, enter your mailbox number and then press #. The system announces your name and prompts you for a password. Enter your password and then press #.
     

  4. If this is the first time logging into this voicemail system, you will be prompted to do the following:
     

    • Change your password.
       

    • Record your name.
       

    • Record a personal greeting.
       

  5. If the system does not prompt you to change one or more of these items, you can use the UNCW AAM Quick Reference (PDF) for instructions on doing so via phone, or you may log in to the User Preferences Web portal (https://mss.uncw.edu/user) to complete these tasks (User Guide- PDF).
     


     

Password rules:
 

  1. Passwords must be a minimum of 6 characters.
     

  2. Passwords cannot match the voice mailbox number or contain the mailbox number.
     

  3. Passwords cannot be sequential numbers and cannot repeat numbers.
     

  4. The last 3 passwords cannot be reused.
     

  5. After completing your voicemail account set up, you can administer your personal options and configure preferred settings.
     

  6. Message waiting lights on phones (voicemail message indicators) are disabled by default with this system. If you check your voicemail messages primarily from your office phone and want the light re-activated, please visit our Service Catalog (or call the Operators at 0).
