How do I Connect an Xbox One to UNCW's Network?

Question

How do I connect an Xbox One to UNCW's network?

Answer

All students living on campus have the ability to connect an Xbox One to UNCW's network.

*Please note: All gaming consoles need to be connected via the wired Ethernet network using a yellow port. Gaming consoles WILL NOT connect to the Hawkwifi wireless network. Please use an available port located in your common room or personal room.

  1. Under "Home," select "Settings."

  2. Choose "Network."

  3. Select "Advanced Settings."

  4. Find your MAC address on the right hand side.  Even though the formatting will be 00-00-00-00-00-00 you will need to type it into MyDevices in the format 00:00:00:00:00:00.

  5. Once you have obtained your MAC address, it will need to be registered on MyDevices using the following information:

    • Go to https://mydevices.uncw.edu (You must be on the UNCW campus network to register.)

    • Enter your UNCW username and password to sign in to My Devices.

    • Follow instructions to add your devices.

    • You may have 5 total devices registered on My Devices.

Still not connecting?

  • Try to restart your Xbox One to see if that resolves the issue.

  • Ensure that your Ethernet cord is plugged into a yellow port.

  • Try to unplug the Ethernet cord from the port, wait 30 seconds, and then re-plug the cord into the port.
