How do I Connect my Xbox 360 to UNCW's Network?

Question

How do I connect my Xbox 360 to UNCW's Network?

Answer

All students currently living on campus have the ability to connect their gaming device to UNCW's Network.

*Please note: All gaming consoles need to be connected via the wired Ethernet Network using a yellow port. Gaming consoles will not connect to the Hawkwifi wireless Network. Please use an available port either located in your common room or personal room.

To find your MAC address on the Xbox 360:

  1. Under the "Settings" menu on the main page, select "System."

    System settings

  2. Choose "Network Settings."

    Network Settings

  3. Select "Wired Network."

    Available Networks

  4. Open the "Additional Settings" tab.

    Advanced Network Settings

  5. Select "Advanced Settings."

    Advanced Settings

  6. Find your MAC Address in the left hand side. Even though the formatting will be 00000000000, you need to type it into MyDevices in the format 00:00:00:00:00:00.

    Alternate MAC Address

  7. Once you have obtained your MAC address, it will need to be registered on MyDevices using the following information:

    • Go to https://mydevices.uncw.edu (You must be on the UNCW campus Network to register.)

    • Enter your UNCW username and password to sign in to My Devices.

    • Follow instructions to add your devices.

    • You may have 5 total devices registered on My Devices.

Still not connecting?

  1. Try to restart your Xbox 360 to see if that resolves the issue.

  2. Ensure that your Ethernet cord is plugged into a yellow port.

  3. Try to unplug the Ethernet cord from the port, wait 30 seconds, and then re-plug the cord into the port.
