How do I Install the EMS Client (PC Only)

All faculty and staff have the ability to complete this installation on their university owned PC.

*Please note: These instructions are for Window's PCs only and will not work on a Mac. If you have Windows 7 check that your PC has Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 or greater installed (instructions below). No need to check if Windows 10 is the operating system.

 

Installing the EMS Client:

 

  1. Log in to your PC with your UNCW username and password.
     
  2. CTRL+Click the link: https://events.uncw.edu/EmsDesktopWebDeploy/
     
  3. Select "Download and Install the EMS Desktop Client"

  4. Click "Save" when prompted with "Do you want to open or save emswebdeployconfiguration.cfg?"
    • This will save the file in your downloads folder.
    • Close the prompt when the file has downloaded.


run the EMS Application.exe

  1. Select "run" when prompted "The EMSApplication.exe download has completed."


Run the application

  1. Close the EMS Install browser window.
     

    Version Checking of Microsoft.NET:
     

  1. Click the "Start" menu.
     
  2. Select "Control Panel."
     
  3. Choose "Programs and Features."
    • The installed programs are listed in alphabetical order, scroll down to the "M's" and look for "Microsoft.NET Framework x.x.x."
    • If you do not see it or the version is less than 4.6.1, use the instructions below the screenshot.

  1. Exit all windows/programs.
     
  2. CTRL+ Click the following url: ​​​​​​​https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49981
     
  3. Click the "Download" button.
     
  4. Select "Run."
     
  5. Accept the License Terms.
     
  6. Restart your computer.
