How do I Determine What the Distinctive Ring Types Mean on a UNCW Landline Phone?

Question

What do the distinctive ring types mean on a UNCW landline phone?

Answer

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to use UNCW land line phones they have access to.

With the UNCW telephone system, the type of ringing tells you where the call is coming from:

  1. One ring repeated every few seconds means an on campus party is calling.

  2. Two short rings repeated every few seconds tells you an off campus party is calling.

  3. Three short rings repeated every few seconds indicates a callback.
