Body

Answer

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to upgrade their UNCW-owned macOS device using the self-service app.

*Please note: If "Updating to macOS Sequoia 15.x" isn't available, your Mac is ineligible for the upgrade due to age or hardware limitations. In this case, please reach out to your manager or supervisor to discuss lifecycle replacement options or funding for a new device within the next year.

  1. Access Self Service by opening it from the "Applications" folder or searching for it via Spotlight.

  2. Log in to Self Service using your UNCW username and password.

  3. Once you are logged in, click the "MacOS" category on the left.

  4. You should then see eligible updates/upgrades for your device:

  5. Select the update/upgrade you wish to install.

  6. Click the "Update" or "Upgrade" button to start the process.

  7. Once the process has been completed, your device will restart and return to a login window with the new version of macOS installed.

*Please note: The upgrade process is anticipated to take around 60 minutes. However, the time may vary based on your internet speed and computer performance.
