What is the Purpose of a Business Analysis & Process Improvement Request?
These requests focus on improving processes, enhancing services or better aligning workflows with institutional goals. Requests often involve talking with stakeholders, reviewing data and documenting current and future workflows.
What Types of Processes Are a Good Fit?
Before submitting a request, it helps to know whether it is a good fit for the Business Analysis & Process Improvement process.
A request works well when it meets the following criteria:
Approval & Alignment

Has management approval for the proposed initiative

If funding is required (such as for third-party or vendor evaluations or consultations), approval is needed before the request can proceed.
Purpose & Scope

Creates or improves processes or services

Redesigns existing workflows

Has a clear scope, defined goals and a timeline

Reviews current tools, processes, or systems
Collaboration & Involvement

Review Process
During the review process, we ensure that your request meets the criteria outlined above. Requests that don’t meet the criteria may be declined or redirected to another approach. Additionally, we may reach out for more details, such as:

Any known constraints or dependencies.
*Please note: Requests are reviewed on a rolling basis. Larger or more strategic initiatives may also require additional review by IT Governance or other oversight groups.

Conditionally Approved Requests
Your request will remain on hold until certain conditions are met. Examples include:

Key stakeholders or subject matter experts availability

Completion of required documentation or data gathering

Scheduling alignment with other university priorities

Pending decisions from governance or leadership groups
