Answer
All faculty, staff and students who have been trained in Cascade have the ability to run a broken link report for their website.
*Please note: You must be trained in Cascade and have access to a UNCW website to run a broken link report in Cascade.
- From the menu bar, please click on the “hamburger menu” (three white lines) on the far right-hand side.
-
Select “Reports” from the pop-out menu. This will take you to a new screen.
- Click the “Broken Links” option.
-
You will need to filter this report for your site. To do this, simply type a forward slash (like this "/"). Then type your site folder name and another forward slash into the “search” box.
Example: /web/ or /itsd/ or /uc/
-
If your site has no broken links, you will see the following: “The Broken Link Report contained 0 links and 0 assets to check.”
-
If your site has broken links, a list will appear below the search.
-
From this list you can easily see where the broken links are, the "Source" of the links, the number of “Occurrences,” the "Link Description" and the "Broken Link."
-
If you see more than one occurrence, select “show,” which will reveal each broken link.
-
You can see why the link is broken by hovering over the "?" in the “Broken Link” column.
-
You can also easily navigate to the page by clicking the asset in the “source” column.
