What is an IT Project at UNCW?

Projects will typically adhere to the following characteristics: one-time event; creation of a new product or service; specific time and cost constraints; specific specifications; defined start and end date; and, consumes resources for 40 hours or more across multiple teams.

Examples of when you might request an IT Project include, but are not limited to:

  • New Software Implementations

  • Upgrades to Current Solutions

  • Business Process Analysis

*Please note: If your request does not meet some or most of the above mentioned characteristics, a service request should be submitted from the myTAC portal service catalog.

IT Faculty and Staff: If you have a work effort that you would like to manage as a project and not use one of the IT Project Managers from the PMO, you can create a project in Team Dynamix and assign yourself as the Project Manager. However, you will have to follow the PMO rules for updating the project and maintaining dates.

If you need further assistance, please contact the ITS Project Management Team or Submit an IT Project Request
