Course Merges in Canvas


Why request this service?

To merge the rosters/sections of multiple courses into one course.

Before submitting this request, the following must be completed to ensure the Course Syllabus tool functions correctly. You must click the "Course Syllabus" link in each course that will be included in the merge. The Course Syllabus link connects your Canvas course to UNCW's approved syllabus system and ensures your syllabus is properly generated, stored, and associated with the correct course. For questions about the Course Syllabus, please contact syllabus@uncw.edu

After completing the above actions, please submit this request before populating your courses with content.

When course sections are merged:

  • The course section with the lowest number becomes the parent course.
  • Any content in the other child sections becomes inaccessible after the merge.
  • Only content in the parent course is saved.

Examples of when you might request this service include, but are not limited to:

  • Merging the rosters of multiple courses into one master course.
