Request this service when your department needs access to Microsoft Copilot Studio for learning, development, collaboration, or production use.

Before submitting your request, determine which services your department needs:

  • Copilot Studio License (No Environment)
    Best for individual testing and learning with non-sensitive data.
    • No setup required
    • Intended for experimentation and training
    • Not intended for sharing or production use
       
  • Department Copilot Environment (Team & Production Use)
    Required for teams building or sharing agents that use sensitive or institutional data.
    • Secure, managed workspace
    • Supports team collaboration
    • Includes permissions, governance, and access controls
    • Designed for production and departmental use
       
  • ITS Consultation for Interaction Packs (Publishing & Usage) - ITS will work with the department to review anticipated usage and provide cost estimates before purchasing licenses.

    Additional helpful details:
    Copilot Studio uses a consumption-based licensing model. Microsoft charges for usage through Interaction Packs; costs are incurred when message or interaction usage exceeds the included thresholds and are billed annually. 

    What typically triggers additional costs:

    • High-volume Copilot Studio interactions (e.g., chatbot messages or automated workflows).
    • Use of advanced or custom Copilot Studio scenarios beyond standard Copilot features.
    • Department-specific implementations require dedicated capacity.

    Other Factors:

    • Required when sharing Copilot agents with end users.
    • Enables Deployment to platforms such as Microsoft Teams or the Web

      How costs are handled:

    • Any additional licensing costs are typically the responsibility of the requesting department.
    • Procurement follows standard UNCW purchasing and renewal processes.
    • Interaction Packs are purchased in allotments of 25,000 interactions per month and are billed annually through UNCW's Microsoft reseller

This service provides departments with access to Microsoft Copilot Studio and, if requested, a secure departmental environment.

ITS will configure a department-specific Copilot environment that enables your team to securely:

  • Build and manage Copilot Agents
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Share agents with approved users
  • Use institutional data securely and responsibly

Additional Support Includes: 

  • User access management
  • Environment support and troubleshooting
  • Guidance on governance and permissions
  • ITS Consultation to determine if Interaction Packs need to be purchased
