How do I Change my UNCW Account Password through the Password Change Portal?

All faculty, staff, students and guests may change their UNCW Account password using the Password Change Portal.

TECH TIP: If you are using a UNCW-owned computer, please use the instructions in our How do I Change my UNCW Account Password using a UNCW-owned computer? knowledge base article. Please do not follow the directions below.  


Using the Password Change Portal

*Please note: If you have never accessed your account, you must register your password change authentication methods before changing your password.

  1. After registering your password change authentication methods, go to the Password Change Portal.
     
  2. Enter your full UNCW email address (e.g.,"sammyseahawk@uncw.edu") in the "Email or Username" field.
     
  3. Type in the security code characters that appear in the picture, and choose “Next.”
     
  4. Select one of the verification methods that you chose when initially registering.
     
  5. Provide the correct responses, and then select “Next.”
     
  6. On the “Choose a new password" page, enter a new password, confirm your password and then select “Finish.”

    When your domain password is changed, it may take up to 15 minutes to update across all UNCW services. If the account gets locked, it will unlock after 5 minutes.

*Please note: Passwords must meet the following criteria:

  1. Cannot be a repeat of the last six passwords used.
  2. Contain a minimum of eight alphanumeric characters.
  3. Contain both upper and lower case letters.
  4. Contain at least one number (for example, 0-9).
  5. Contain at least one special character. (Allowed characters include: ~ ! @ $ % ^ & * _ - + = ` | \ ( ) { } [ ] : ; " ' < > , . ? / )
