What is a Clicker and how can I Purchase One?

Question

What is a Clicker and how can I purchase one?

Answer

All students have the ability to purchase and use a Clicker.

A Clicker is a device that can integrate into a PowerPoint presentation and allow students to participate by submitting responses to questions and viewing immediate feedback. In turn, the presenter can engage students, assess learning, gather data and enhance the presentation.

The current model of physical clicker from TurningPoint is the QT2 seen on the left.  The older, smaller model (on the right) are no longer available for purchase directly though they could still be registered with a subscription and used if you have one already.

Use your Personal Electronic Device instead of buying a physical Clicker:

Rather than purchasing a physical clicker, TurningPoint also has an official app that can be installed and run from your personal device whatever form that may take.

This does still require purchasing a subscription for it.  This method only removes the cost of the physical clicker itself.  (Link to Subscription article here)

*Please note:  Your professor may have specific requirements on whether they want you to have the physical clicker or if the app is acceptable so be sure to check with them before you purchase anything.

Clicker Ordering Information:

Most of the purchasing and registration will be done through your Turning Technologies Account. That includes the subscription for using the app as well.

*Please note: If you need to set up your account for the first time, use your UNCW email address to receive discounted pricing. This will also be important when linking your account to Canvas, as detailed here.

Physical Clickers are also for sale at the UNCW Campus Book Store. Call 910-962-3188, or email bookstore@uncw.edu for more information.
