How Do I Apply My License for Microsoft Copilot Microsoft 365 to my UNCW-owned Windows PC?

Faculty and staff identified as testers have the ability to modify the Microsoft Office license on their device to utilize the Microsoft Copilot Microsoft 365 features.

*Please note: We are currently piloting Copilot for Microsoft 365. While in the piloting phase, only identified testers can modify their license. More information about this pilot can be found on our Discover Copilot for Microsoft 365: A Unique AI Opportunity for Faculty & Staff news page.

Modifying Microsoft Office License
 

  1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.
     
  2. Launch Software Center. Locate the Microsoft Copilot Prerequisite package and click Install.

  3. Launch MS Word
     
  4. Go to File > Account (which is located in the lower left corner).

  5. Verify that the subscription information shows “Subscription Product for <username>@uncw.edu” and Click “Update License”.

  6. Sign in to verify your subscription.

  7. Enter your full UNCW email address.

  8. Select Work or school account.

  9. Restart any open Microsoft 365 application.

  10. Upon launching an Office app, you should see Copilot splash screens.

  11. Copilot will appear in the ribbon
