What is Eduroam and How Do I Connect to it?

Question

What is Eduroam, and how do I connect to it?

Answer

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to use eduroam when visiting an eduroam institution.

Eduroam (Education Roaming) is a secure, world-wide wireless network developed for the international research and education community. There are many educational institutions that are now members of eduroam, including most of the UNC system schools. Click here to see a map of the U.S. institutions that participate in eduroam.

  1. If you are visiting an institution that participates in eduroam, look for the "eduroam" wireless network on your device.

  2. Use your UNCW username (including the @uncw.edu) and password to get connected.

Visitors:

  1. Students and professors visiting UNCW will need to use their own university provided credentials.

  2. Accept the eduroam certificate in order to connect to the eduroam wireless network at UNCW.

*Please note: When you are at UNCW, you will not be able to connect to the eduroam wireless network. You will continue to use hawkwifi for wireless connectivity on campus.
