How do I Surplus a Computer, Mobile Device or Server?

Body

Answer

All faculty and staff have the ability to surplus a UNCW-owned computer, mobile device or server with approval from their Asset Authority (AA).

*Please note:  If you need to surplus your device, your department’s Asset Coordinator (AC) can submit the request on your behalf. If you are unsure who your AC is, please refer to our knowledge base article, "How Do I Find My Asset Coordinator?"

  1. Open a Surplus Request For A Computer, Mobile Device, or Server and complete all required fields.

  2. Select your Asset Authority (AA), who is typically your director, department chair or budget authority.
    • Review List of Asset Authorities if needed.
    • Your AA will receive an email notification to review and approve the request.

  3. Once approved, Surplus Property will schedule a pickup. The device will be transported to a secure location for data removal and proper disposal. Be sure to keep the equipment in a secure location until Surplus Property collects it.

If you need further assistance, submit a service request or CHAT with TAC.
