All faculty, staff and students have the ability to access Microsoft Project for educational/academic purposes.
 

*Please note: The following steps below apply for Academic/Educational (for teaching or classwork) use only.

For business use, please follow the article "How do I Order Microsoft Project or Visio for University-Owned Systems?" After purchasing a Project license, submit a service request to have the software installed.

MS Project training is available through Percipio.

 

Access Microsoft Project on a Mac for Academic Use

 

  1. Microsoft Project is not available natively on macOS. If you are on a Mac computer, you will have to use Horizon to access Microsoft Project.
     
  2. Microsoft Project is available in Horizon on a per-class basis. A UNCW faculty/staff member may submit a ticket request here for their classes. Make sure to include the course section information (for example CSC-101-003, Spring 2022), so we can add that section to the access list in Horizon, as it is not available to everyone.

 

Install Microsoft Project on Windows for Academic Use

 

Personally-owned
 

  1. Go to Microsoft Azure for Education
    • If prompted, sign in with your UNCW email address (e.g., sammyseahawk@uncw.edu) and password.
       
    • Be patient as the portal loads.
       
    • If prompted, review and agree to the Microsoft EULA. 
       
  2. You are now in the Azure for Education portal.
     
  3. Select "Software" from the Learning Resources menu.
     
  4. Browse or search for the software, "Project Professional 2021 - DVD" or "Project Professional 2019."
     
  5. Based on your search results, select the software you want to download. A window for the software will open on the right side.
     
  6. Select “View Key” to copy the product key you will need for installing the software.
     
  7. Select “Download” to start downloading the software. The file is quite large, so be prepared to wait for it to complete.
     
  8. Locate the downloaded file, and double-click to install.
     
  9. You may need to enter the product key at the end of the installation process.

 

UNCW-Owned

Academic use (For classwork use or teaching): Submit a service request specifying that Project is needed for academic use. A member of IT Client Experience will provide installation assistance.

Business use: For business use, please follow the article "How do I Order Microsoft Project or Visio for University-Owned Systems?" After purchasing a Project license, submit a service request to have the software installed.
