How do I Open a Shared Mailbox/Shared Calendar on a Mac?

Answer

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to open a shared mailbox or shared calendar on a Mac.

*Please note: Shared calendars and delegated or shared inboxes are currently not supported on the latest Microsoft 365 Outlook for Mac. If you don’t see the “Other User’s Folder” option in step two, please disable the “New Outlook” experience.

  1. Open Outlook for Mac.

  2. Go to "File" then "Open," and then select "Other User's Folder."

  3. Type the name of the person who granted you access or the name of the shared mailbox.

  4. Select the correct mailbox name, and then choose either "Calendar" or "Inbox" in the “Folder Type” menu.

  5. Select  "Open" to open the shared mailbox/shared calendar.

  6. Quit Outlook and reopen the application to view the updated changes.

*Please note: If you have a shared folder selected in the navigation pane, new items that you create are saved in that shared folder. To remove another user's shared folder from your navigation pane, right-click the account name, and select "Remove Shared Account." Alternatively, to remove just a folder, right-click the folder (i.e., Inbox, Calendar, Address Book) and select "Remove from View."
