How do I use my UNCW Softphone?

All approved faculty and staff have the ability to use the UNCW Softphone off-campus. 

Placing phone calls

 

  1. You can search the UNCW phone directory in the Jabber app and make calls. To search for a particular person, type in their name in the search bar. To call this person, mouse over their name, and press the green “Call” button.

Listening to your voicemail

 

  1. You can listen to voicemail messages by clicking on the Voicemail Icon on the left menu.

  2. To listen to a voicemail, click on the message on the left, then click on the gray “play” button to hear the message. 

    After clicking on the voicemail button, you then select the message you want to hear and then click on the gray play button which is outlined in red.

Closing out of the Jabber client once you have finished working

 

  1. Be sure to close out of the Jabber client once you are finished with your work, or the client will continue to ring through with work calls. To Sign out, click on the cog in the upper right corner of the application, and then click “Sign out”. 

    To sign out of the jabber client, click the cog in the upper right corner and then select the sign out option
