All faculty, staff and students have the ability to authenticate with Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using a YubiKey.
*Please note: A YubiKey plugs into your USB port, and when tapped or when the button is pressed it sends a signed response back to Duo to validate your login.
In order to use a YubiKey with Duo, you must have the following:
- A supported browser (check for supported browsers)
- An available USB port or an NFC capabilities when logging in using a mobile browser
- Any YubiKey (Except YubiKey’s U2F-only key)
Registering a YubiKey
- Go to the UNCW Duo Device Management Portal, and log in with an existing method.
- Click "Add a device."

- Select "Security key"

- Click "Ok" for the next two prompts to begin with the security key setup


- Touch the security key

- Now you have registered your Yubikey!

Authenticating with a YubiKey
- Navigate to any UNCW web page protected by Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
- Duo may prompt you directly to use the security key you setup. In that case, you can touch the key and Duo will redirect you to the page you are accessing.

- If Duo promoted you to use other methods like "Duo push", then you should be able to switch to the Yubikey method by clicking on "Other options"

- Select "Security Key" from the listed options. Then, you should a similar prompt to the above screenshot where you need to touch the key to login.
