How do I Use a YubiKey with Duo Two-Factor Authentication?

All faculty, staff and students have the ability to authenticate with Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using a YubiKey.

*Please note: A YubiKey plugs into your USB port, and when tapped or when the button is pressed it sends a signed response back to Duo to validate your login.

In order to use a YubiKey with Duo, you must have the following:

Registering a YubiKey

 

  1. Go to the UNCW Duo Device Management Portal, and log in with an existing method.

  2. Click "Add device."

  3. Follow the "Initial Enrollment with a Security Key" instructions in the Duo Support Knowledge Base.


Authenticating with a YubiKey

 

  1. Navigate to any UNCW web page protected by Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

  2. Follow the "Authenticating with a Security Key" instructions in the Duo Support Knowledge Base.
