All faculty and staff have the ability to use a Department Copier.
*Please note: Every academic and administrative building has a least one or more Department Copier location (also called "Faculty-Staff iPrint Release Station"). For more information, please visit the Printing Services website.
This article applies to faculty and staff only. For instructions on how to use iPrint as a student, please visit the iPrint website.
Department Copiers look like the image below. They are differentiated from student iPrint release stations by the finisher attachment (outlined in red).
TECH TIP: If the printer you would like to use does not look like the image above, it is not a Department Copier. To print to another printer (e.g., HP), please submit a service request. Select "Local USB Office Printer" to use a printer directly connected to your computer or "Department/Network Printer" to use a printer connected to the network. You may disregard the remainder of this article.
Submit a service request to request access. Select the "iPrint Printer/Department Copier" and the "Printer/Copier access changes" options.
There are two printing options available for faculty & staff:
TECH TIP: Secure Print / UNCW ID is the method recommended by Printing Services. Direct Print is only permitted if the Department Copier is in your immediate area.
Install "Fac-Staff iPrint" from the Software Center (Windows) or Self-Service (Mac). For more information, review the article How do I Use Software Center (Windows) and Self Service (Mac) on my UNCW-owned Computer?
Following the submission of your service request for direct print access, a Client Solutions Technician will contact you to schedule a time for driver installation.
*Please note: You must be connected to hawkwifi or the Virtual Private Network (VPN) if you are off-campus.
TECH TIP: Before sending a print request, use "Print Preview" to print only the pages you desire. This is very useful when printing pages from a website, as your department will be charged for the number of pages printed.
TECH TIP: You may receive a pop-up indicating the cost of the print job. Please note this is charged to your department fund and not to you personally.
TECH TIP: You also have the option of deleting the job. Select the job(s), and press the "Delete" icon at the bottom right of the screen. Note: The cost for each job is calculated prior to printing.
